31st year old Update

August 15th, 2007 by jhinchan

Thanks alot to you guys who wished me happy birthday!

Just a quick update on my life now. I’ve just changed my job and I’m currently working in a Law firm in KL doing merger and acquistion deals with a group of professionals. Seems promising enough as I can get to learn more stuff outside my previous scope of expertise.

Oh yeah *drums roll*…I’ve just gotten attached recently with a very nice lady. Everything seems to be going great now. Hopefully things can work out for the long-run. Will post some photos up soon enough ya?

That’s all for now…Gotta go back to work! Like my e-mail signature since college days: New Challenges New Achievements

Rocky Balboa

February 27th, 2007 by jhinchan

It’s been a while since I wrote something so I here it goes….

Went to watch Rocky Balboa with my colleague in Canberra yesterday. It was a good movie! Much better than Rocky V. I’ve watched the entire Rocky series since I was just a kid. It’s not your usual action packed movie and I have to admit that at times it gets quite slow and boring. However, it is the moral or spirit behind the movie that makes it appealing to me.

This time round, Rocky is hella old already but still really buff. Well there is quite a few morals of the story this time;

Life will beat you down until you are flat on the ground….unless you have the courage to stand up, face life and fight back, you will just going to be flat on the ground…..

The last thing to age is your heart…..

Fighting and chasing what you believe in all the way…..

There are many more but those are the few I remembered. The one that struck me the most was the one about life always punching and beating you down….Guess we just have to fight back…..Never give up….

The last time I watch Rocky V was with a good buddy of mine. We were still studying in Secondary school. I can still remember it was in Chinatown point in Singapore. The last I heard from him was Sep 2006 and he was still in working in Taiwan as the GM for some fitness company. Damn its probably 15 years ago already……Guess we are really getting old…..

Just spent Chinese New Year alone in Australia working….Cheez….really missed my family and friends…..I’ve been here for one and half months already and will be going back to Malaysia sometime mid April…..The company is proceeding to apply for PR visa in Australia, but I’m having serious thought about going back to Singapore and spending sometime with my parents…..Will have to see how it turns out.

Hmm….how much money do we really need? So far more money for me just means a bigger better car for me…..As I get older, can’t eat as much as I used to….Don’t spend on fashion since I don’t care much about it….I have food, shelter, clothing, and all the basic needs covered….Maslow Hierarchy of Needs…From Basic needs to Self Actualization???…..Guess I’m looking for something more fulfilling……Time is becoming a limited resources now….

Spoke to my Dad during CNY and he’s talking about going into full retirement….talking about having some left over time for himself…..I guess I was just weighing out time and $$$……How much money is it worth to be away from your family and friends? Yeah working overseas is fun initially…..Get to see the world, but after staying in a hotel for months….It just doesn’t seem fun anymore…..

My Personal Rocky Story continues……

Experience in Australia!

December 6th, 2006 by jhinchan

Spent the last weekend in Brisbane and it was great! The last time when I was in Brisbane was 2002.  Got to meet up all my MBA buddies/classmate; Paul and Rachel, Yin and Alan, Brandon and Bebe. Had an Aussie BBQ on Saturday and a dinner party on Sunday. I’ve learnt how to play Texas Hold’em Poker with them . I’m beginning to feel that dinner party is a great way to keep in touch with close friends even after they are married or have kids. It’s great seeing how they’ve built up their lives. Wished I had more time to talk to them and share our experiences over this few years. Anyways, we made plans to meet up in Singapore for Chinese New Year!

Work in Australia is kinda slow pace actually….Not really what I was expecting. Was hoping for something more exciting and challenging. Anyways, I just play my part and go along with my team leader.

I’ve been thinking and reflecting alot…..Really considering if I should move back to Singapore…..Reason? Perhaps I should spent sometime with my parents. It’s been over 10 years since I’ve stayed with them. Well of course there are the usual pros and cons, but the filial piety in me seems to be kicking in overdrive recently. How many decades more do we and our parents have? But anyways, I’m still thinking ultimately where do I want to settle down….Singapore, Australia, or Malaysia. Jeez….talk about confused!

For now just hoping to finish up my tour of duty in Australia and head back to good old KL for the Christmas and New Year Holiday. Perhaps 2007 will be a good year to go into some serious relocation!

Life so far….

October 11th, 2006 by jhinchan

I decided to start a Blog to keep my friends who I can’t meet up all the time to share my feelings, thoughts and current affairs….

Lots of things happened…

Found out my ex-gf left because of some other guy….

Found out my ex-ex-gf getting married this weekend, six months pregnant….

Found out my ex-ex-ex gf married with baby daughter…..

Usually I will indulge or torture myself in pity and agony….Usually….But I guess I got stronger slowly……Took me 3 years to get over my ex-ex-ex-gf (3 years relationship) to start a relationship with my ex-ex-gf (nearly 4 years relationship). Took me 11months to get over my ex-ex-gf to start a relationship with my ex-gf (6 months plus relationship). Anyways, I guess all is fair in love and war.  All of them initiated the relationship, after that I did not choose to leave them, but all of them choose to leave me. I’ve tried my best already and I respect their decision. When I received the news for all the above, from the bottom of my heart I sincerely wished them happiness in their respective current relationships and life.

Taking all my lovey soapy heartbroken tales away is my current ride. Finally got myself a BMW. After a track and mountain road-worthy GTi, and a executive looking Civc2.0 RX2, I had it with buying new cars and selling them away when I make a career move. Depreciation is just ridiculously too high. However, the calling for the BMW started when I wanted to try a continental car, namely Merc,Beemers, or Volvo. Not to mention their high loan amounts even though they are used. Was aiming for the C200 but was abandoned since it was too "uncle" looking. Then there was the S40T which was relatively newer and turbocharged too, but somehow the appeal just wasn’t there.

Finally, the BMW came along. I always wanted a Beemer since I started working in 1999.I started doing research online and offline and went around seeing 3-series namely, 318i, 325i and 328i. 328i was too much expensive since roadtax per year is close to RM1,700. That spurred me to aim for a 318i since its the most economical. I even joined the BMW club (without a BMW then) and even met up the members during their E36 TT (tea drinking session). They were kind enough to let me test drive their babes, both manual and auto. I was blown away with the 325i power and single-vanos. After that I forget about the 318i and focus on my hunt for the 325i. It’s really rare to find a 325i manual over here in Malaysia so that basically left me with the auto model.

Took me around 2 and a half weeks to finally find the car for me. It was in excellent condition and relatively low mileage. The car dealer wasn’t your typical car salesman and he dealt only in Top range cars. He himself is an avid BMW driver too and his knowledge of beemers is most impressive. He help me recondition the car, modifying it into "Angel eyes" lights and fix up all the wear and tear stuff. Even offer to sell me his private collection of M3 forged M double spoke 17" rims (made in Italy) for an extremely reasonable price. The moment the car came out of the shop, immediately I went to slap on the 17" with my favourite tires Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3. Since the rims were 7.5, they can accomodate both 215 and 225 tires. However, since 215 have better traction during the rain, I decided to go for 215/45/17" since its slightly cheaper too. Perhaps you’ll see the return of the retired Rainracer…..kekeke…..

Driving the BMW 325i is a dream come true for me. Although its older, it’s even more exciting driving this UDM (ultimate driving machine) then driving my GTi or Civic 2.0. However, I’m still getting use to the rear-wheel drive though.

As for work, I’m really happy working here since its in KL city centre. Great office, nice location, lots of people and most importantly very exciting business model. It’s not as stressful as my previous position and its economically more viable. So that’s a plus for me already.
